The Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC) has created the Monterey County Fire Relief Fund to assist communities affected by the three fires burning in Monterey County. The River Fire began August 16, 2020 and the Carmel and Dolan fires began August 18, 2020. Homes have been lost and evacuations are ongoing. The fund is also a vehicle for future fires that may occur.
Grants from the fund will be distributed to nonprofit agencies and organizations helping individuals and families affected by fires in Monterey County. Grants will support emergency assistance such as short-term housing/rental assistance and other immediate relief, health and wellness needs, equipment and more in addition to long-term recovery needs.
The CFMC has waived all administrative fees so 100% of donations will be used for grantmaking. The fund is a trusted repository for philanthropic assets to be directed specifically for fire relief.
Even though we can’t yet know the extent of damage and loss from these fires, we’re confident in the generosity of the people of Monterey County and will ensure their gifts help those in need.” – Dan Baldwin, CFMC President/CEOThose wishing to contribute can donate online at www.cfmco.org/FireRelief, mail a check to the Community Foundation for Monterey County, 2354 Garden Road, Monterey, CA, 93940 “Attention: “Fire Relief,” or call 831.375.9712 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
