Monterey County, California — The Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC) has activated the Monterey County Fire Relief Fund to assist communities affected by the Timber Fire in Big Sur in Monterey County, CA. Donations can be made to: give.cfmco.org/firerelief.
Grants will be distributed to nonprofit organizations helping individuals and families impacted by the fire, evacuations and temporary loss of work. Grants will support immediate needs such as food, shelter, short-term housing/rental assistance and other immediate relief, as well as ongoing health and wellness support services and longer-term recovery efforts for the Big Sur community. The CFMC has waved all administrative fees, and 100% of donations will be used for grantmaking. The fund provides a secure and trusted way for donors to contribute that will be dedicated solely to fire relief and recovery efforts.
“Even though we don’t yet know the extent of damage and loss from the Timber fire, we’re confident in the generosity of the people of Monterey County and will ensure their gifts help those affected in the Big Sur community,” said Dan Baldwin, CFMC President/CEO.
The Monterey County COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster), an initiative of the CFMC, is working closely with regional response partners and nonprofit organizations to monitor community needs.
