Monterey County Fire Relief Fund
The Monterey County Fire Relief Fund has been activated to assist communities impacted by the 2026 Timber Fire in Big Sur. Grants will be distributed to nonprofit organizations helping individuals and families impacted by the fire, evacuations and temporary loss of work.
Grants
100% of donations will be used for grantmaking.
Grants will support immediate needs such as food, shelter, short-term housing/rental assistance and other immediate relief, as well as ongoing health and wellness support services and longer-term recovery efforts for the Big Sur community. The CFMC has waved all administrative fees, and 100% of donations will be used for grantmaking. The fund provides a secure and trusted way for donors to contribute that will be dedicated solely to fire relief and recovery efforts.Â

Donations to the Monterey County Fire Relief Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC) are tax deductible. The CFMC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Tax ID #94-1615897.

The Community Foundation for Monterey County created the Monterey County Fire Relief Fund to assist communities affected by fires throughout Monterey County. It was started in 2020 in response to the River Fire, south of Salinas, the Carmel Fire in the Cachagua area of Carmel Valley and the Dolan Fire in Big Sur. Donations to the fund support both immediate relief and recovery efforts.
