Veterans Transition Center of California

Our vision is that every woman and girl has what she needs to be healthy, confident and able to fulfill her dreams. When a woman thrives, her family thrives. When a family thrives, the community thrives.

The Veterans Transition Center of California (VTC) is committed to empowering Veterans to move from crises to self-sufficiency.
For many of our Veterans, the battle continues when they come home. Adjusting to civilian life is a difficult journey, and the VTC strives to connect our heroes with resources they need and benefits they earned during their service.

We operate housing programs including emergency, transitional, and permanent supportive housing for Veterans and their families on the historic Fort Ord in Marina, CA. Beyond housing, we equip our Veterans with food, clothing, case management, transportation, employment training, group therapy sessions, and other supportive services.

Lightfighter Village, a 70-unit affordable housing complex for Veterans and their families, is our newest endeavor. The project has broken ground, and it will allow us to double the number of Veterans we serve.

We have created two new and exciting programs within our Transformative Re-Entry. Long Term Reentry and Recovery brings Veterans recently released from incarceration into our housing and supportive services to facilitate their re-entry into society.

Additionally, in partnership with the State of California, we created the nation’s first Veterans-specific Hub at CTF Soledad. This allows us to provide therapeutic programming while they are incarcerated and ensure they have the resources they need to succeed on the outside. Our Veterans in these programs have a 0% recidivism rate, compared with the state average of 46% – none of our clients have reoffended.

The wraparound services the VTC provides are essential to the stability and success of our Veterans and their families struggling with homelessness. With your financial support, you can help us expand the number of Veterans we serve and help us reach our goal of “functional zero” in Monterey County – where no Veteran is forced to be homeless.
