Monterey County, California — Vistra has partnered with the Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC) to establish the Moss Landing Fire Relief fund to support households impacted by the Jan. 16, 2025 fire at the Moss Landing Power Plant site.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office ordered precautionary evacuations early on during the event. This 24-hour evacuation caused disruption and placed a strain on residents.
To help offset residents’ expenses associated with this, Vistra has contributed more than $450,000 to establish a relief fund. Each address within the declared evacuation zone is eligible for one gift card, distributed by the CFMC and partners, the United Way and the Castro Plaza Family Resource Center.
There will be two in-person opportunities for residents to apply:
Information about additional gift card distribution events will be posted here at a later date.
To receive a gift card, the resident representing the household must be 18 years of age or older and show proof of physical residence in mandatory evacuation zones. Residents can use the Monterey County Emergency Information site to verify that their address is within the evacuation zone.

Vistra announced they partnered with a third-party company to make the business claims process as simple and efficient as possible. Their claims administrator will be in Moss Landing on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 to offer impacted businesses the opportunity to submit or follow up on their claims in person.
