Girls' Health in Girls' Hands

Girls’ Health in Girls’ Hands (GHGH) is a program of Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County that gives girls a voice in shaping their future and an agenda for change.

ABOUT

The Girls’ Health in Girls’ Hands (GHGH) program, founded by the Women’s Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County, provides girls, ages 11-18, with leadership opportunities to refine their skills rooted in resilience, compassion, and the ability to live their life as their authentic selves. Through GHGH, hundreds of girls throughout Monterey County will have access to more comprehensive and integrated health information, develop powerful leadership skills, and help influence positive changes at their schools and in their communities.

The Future of Girls

IMPACT

GHGH has continued to strengthen a countywide leadership program to achieve measurable results for girls ages 11-18 in Monterey County. This initiative’s ultimate success requires the active involvement of the nonprofit partner organizations serving girls, schools and public officials, other community stakeholders, and funding partners such as the Women’s Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County sharing our collective vision for girls.

Through GHGH, hundreds of girls throughout Monterey County will have access to more comprehensive and integrated health information, develop powerful leadership skills, and help influence positive changes at their schools and in their communities.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • 705 girls at 9 High Schools in 8 Cities participated in health leadership and research/advocacy programs
