moss landing fire relief fund createdÂ
Monterey County, California — Vistra partnered with the Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC) to establish the Moss Landing Fire Relief fund to support households impacted by the Jan. 16, 2025 fire at the Moss Landing Power Plant site.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office ordered precautionary evacuations early on during the event. This 24-hour evacuation caused disruption and placed a strain on residents.
To help offset residents’ expenses associated with this, Vistra contributed more than $450,000 to establish a relief fund. Each address within the declared evacuation zone is eligible for one gift card, distributed by the CFMC and partners, the United Way and the Castro Plaza Family Resource Center.

Four in-person distributions were held between February 1, 2025 and March 21, 2025 at the NMCUSD Family Resource Center in Castroville, the Moss Landing Harbor District Office and the Castroville Public Library.
Distribution efforts for residents that were in the evacuation zone were coordinated by the Monterey County COAD (Communities Organized Active in Disaster), an initiative of the Community Foundation for Monterey County,
